TGA 2025: Larian Studios Teases New ‘Divinity’ Game That’s Bigger Than ‘Baldur’s Gate 3’

Before Baldur’s Gate 3, there was Divinity, and developer Larian Studios is set to revisit its roots. Following a cryptic image tease of a monolith in a desert, The Game Awards 2025 has officially lifted the curtain on a new upcoming title in the franchise, described by host Geoff Keighley as the studio’s “biggest game ever.”

Titled just Divinity without the Original Sin subtitle, it will feature a world even larger than Baldur’s Gate 3, with no gameplay details or a release date yet. A cinematic announcement trailer offers a first look at the gruesome action to come, from burning a chained-up wicker man alive and melted flesh to lots of screaming, set against cheerful flute music. Then, lo and behold, the statue appears, revealed to be known as the Hellstone. “The gods are silent. Rivellion bleeds. New powers stir,” reads its description.

TGA 2025 Divinity

While the original Divinity debuted in 2002, it wasn’t until the successful release of 2017’s Original Sin that the franchise received more mainstream attention. Unlike the previous four entries, it shifted gears from the action-RPG stylings to a turn-based one, which carried over to Baldur’s Gate 3 and surpassed expectations in every way possible.

No release date has been set for the new Divinity title.
