Who’s a good boy? Krypto the Superdog, for sure. A new five-minute footage of James Gunn’s upcoming Superman film is all about the pup of steel, as he finds the bloodied superhero in the snow, jumps on him, and drags him toward his Fortress of Solitude, where the Man of Steel basks in sunbeams to recover from the serious injuries.
It’s a charming extended look at Krypto, following a brief screentime in the record-shattering first trailer released last December. The upcoming feature will mark the dog’s cinematic debut, with the rest of the trailer showing more glimpses of Lex Luthor, played by Nicholas Hoult, and a gravity-defying kiss between Superman and Rachel Brosnahan’s Lois Lane.
Other character appearances include Hawkgirl (Isabela Merced, Alien: Romulus) Mister Terrific (Edi Gathegi, House), Metamorpho (Anthony Carrigan, Barry), and Guy Gardner (Nathan Fillion, Firefly). David Corenswet (House of Cards) takes on the leading role in DC Studios’ latest retelling of a classic tale, which will herald the start of the DC Universe (DCU), formerly known as the DC Extended Universe.

Superman explores the titular superhero’s journey to reconcile his alien heritage with his human family. It flies into theatres on 11 July 2025 and is one of the six live-action big-screen projects planned for Chapter One of the rebooted cinematic universe, followed by Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow in June 2026, Clayface in September 2026, The Authority (TBA), The Brave and the Bold, and Swamp Thing.
Joining them in the previously announced DCU slate are an untitled Teen Titans film, an untitled Bane and Deathstroke feature, and Sgt. Rock, all of which are undated.
