‘Stranger Things’ Animated Series Coming To Netflix

Just because Stranger Things is wrapping up after five seasons, doesn’t mean this is the end for the universe. In fact, Netflix is expanding the Stranger Things universe to include an animated series.

Details are still sparse with no cast or release date attached to the series just yet but we do know that Eric Robles will be developing it via Flying Bark Productions. Robles is best known for creating Random! Cartoons, Fanboy & Chum Chum and Glitch Techs.

Of course, the Duffer Brothers will executive produce.

“We’ve always dreamed of an animated Stranger Things in the vein of the Saturday morning cartoons that we grew up loving, and to see this dream realised has been absolutely thrilling,” the Duffer brothers said in a statement.

“We couldn’t be more blown away by what Eric Robles and his team have come up with — the scripts and artwork are incredible, and we can’t wait to share more with you! The adventure continues…”

Aside from an animated series, Netflix also recently announced plans for a live-action spinoff, as well as a stage show. Similarly, no details are avaibale about the live-action spinoff aside from the fact that it would not focus on characters like Eleven or Steve Harrington.

The stage show, titled Stranger Things: The First Shadow, is set to debut in London’s West End in late 2023. It would take place in Hawkins in 1959 and will focus on Henry Creel, aka Vecna.

Expanding Stranger Things is not the only thing on the Duffer Brothers’ to-do list right now. Currently, the duo are set to create a live-action adaptation of Death Note for Netflix, as well as an adaptation of Stephen King’s The Talisman.
