‘Stellar Blade’ Dev Aims To Mirror ‘Black Myth: Wukong’ Success With 2025 PC Release

Flashy action souls-like Stellar Blade is eyeing a 2025 PC release window, with developer Shift Up hoping to leverage the platform to expand sales and reach the same level of success as games like Black Myth: Wukong.

According to its financial report, Shift Up states that “sales continued at a stabilised level” after the game’s launch in April this year, earning 25.8 billion won (US$18.5 million) in the first three months of its release and 22.5 billion won (US$16.1 million) in the subsequent three months, coming to a total of 48.4 billion won (US$34.6 million) in end September 2024.

“The [PC] release is being considered within 2025,” Shift Up confirmed. “Considering recent trends such as Steam’s expanding market share in the AAA game sector and the global success of Black Myth: Wukong, we expect the performance on PC to exceed that on consoles.”

As benchmarks go, Black Myth: Wukong is certainly a good point to aspire towards, with the game’s massive success following 10 million copies sold in just three days after its release, and smashing Steam records for the most-played single-player game ever on the platform.

In the meantime, Shift Up stated its plan to keep interest in the title, which is currently a PlayStation 5 exclusive, to tide things over until the game’s eventual launch on PC next year, referred to as a “platform expansion”. To date, Stellar Blade has received numerous updates, including a crossover DLC content with Nier: Automata arriving on 20 November.

Apart from Stellar Blade’s PC release set for sometime in 2025, Shift Up is also currently working on an unannounced multi-platform action role-playing game codenamed Project Witches, with a planned 2027 launch.
