Andor star Stellan Skarsgård recently shared insights on the much-anticipated Season 2 of the Star Wars spinoff Disney+ series.
In an interview with Games Radar, Skarsgård hinted that the new season “will probably be out towards the end of the year or early next“. This update comes as a pleasant surprise to fans who were bracing for a 2025 release, especially after the show was absent from Disney’s 2024 Star Wars lineup.
Andor, acclaimed for its mature take on the Star Wars universe, follows Cassian Andor’s journey leading up to Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. The show’s first season received widespread praise, setting high expectations for the sequel. However, production faced delays due to last year’s Hollywood strikes, casting uncertainty on the release timeline.
Skarsgård, who plays Luthen Rael, expressed enthusiasm for Season 2, which he confirmed would be the series’ conclusion, leading directly into Rogue One. He described Andor as a darker, more grown-up Star Wars experience, highlighting the oppressive atmosphere of the Empire and the moral complexities faced by characters fighting for the Rebellion.
“It’s the last season of it. It ends where Rogue One starts so it’s up to that point. I think it will be very good as already the first one was satisfying for me because it’s sort of Star Wars for grown-ups – it’s a more realistic and complicated society that they’re living in and the claustrophobia of the fascist regime is palpable. I think we have a good season ahead of us.”
