We all have that one teacher that changed our lives. For Ahsoka Tano, it’s Anakin Skywalker.
In the latest trailer for Star Wars: Ahsoka, Hayden Christensen returns as the one and only, Anakin Skywalker.
“As your Master, it’s my responsibility to prepare you. I won’t always be there to look out for you,” said Christensen in a voiceover. “Don’t be afraid. Trust your instincts. I know you can do this, Ahsoka.”
Christensen’s involvement in the upcoming Disney+ series was first reported in October 2021. While the trailer used old clips of Anakin, the dialogue is new.
Anakin served as Ahsoka’s Master before she left him, and the Jedi Order. Their relationship was first explored in Star Wars: The Clone Wars. In the animated series, Skywalker was voiced by Matt Lanter.
Ahsoka made her first live-action debut in The Mandalorian, played by actress Rosario Dawson. Dawson will be reprising the character in the upcoming Disney+ series too. In The Mandalorian, Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) asked her to train the young Grogu. Ahsoka refused as she was no longer a Jedi, but helped Djarin free the planet Corvus from its Magistrate Morgan Elsbeth. She finally made her way to the newly built Jedi Temple, where she reunited with Djarin, Grogu and Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill), who later took on the role to train Grogu. Her last appearance in The Mandalorian directly leads into Ahsoka.
In Ahsoka, the titular character and Sabine Wren (Natasha Liu Borzizzo) must work together to locate Ezra Bridger (Eman Esfadi), all while being hunted by Inquisitors and a pair of Dark Force users.
Thrawn and Sabine aren’t the only Rebels character making their live-action debut in Ahsoka, as they will be joined by pilot Hera Syndulla, played by Mary Elizabeth Winstead and droid Chopper a.k.a C1-10P. Rounding out the cast of Ahsoka are the late Ray Stevenson, Ivanna Sakhno, Diane Lee Inosanto, David Tennant, and Lars Mikkelsen as Grand Admiral Thrawn.
Ahsoka premieres on Disney+ on 23 August 2023.
