Star Wars ‘Ahsoka’ Season 2 Won’t Arrive Until 2026

Disney has confirmed a season 2 for Star Wars: Ahsoka, though fans may need to be patient as the release is not anticipated on Disney+ until 2026.

Natasha Liu Bordizzo, who portrays Sabine Wren in the series, speaking at Dragon Con 2024, mentioned her commitment to the series, noting that it conflicts with her ability to attend the same event next year. This timeline suggests a significant gap between the first and second seasons, a pattern not uncommon in the streaming era and within the Star Wars franchise itself.

Dave Filoni, who developed Ahsoka and directed several episodes, is prioritising the second season over his upcoming New Republic crossover film. This dedication underscores the importance of Ahsoka within the larger Star Wars narrative, especially given the first season’s cliffhanger finale.

The timeline for Ahsoka season 2 aligns with other developments in the Star Wars universe. While Ahsoka is the only confirmed upcoming series yet to begin production, other projects like Skeleton Crew and a second season of Andor have completed filming. Moreover, The Mandalorian & Grogu movie is set for a May 2026 release, which may introduce plot elements essential to Ahsoka‘s storyline. This phased release schedule not only builds anticipation but allows for deeper story development across the Mandoverse.

Despite the extended wait, the interconnected narratives of the Mandoverse are set to evolve. December 2024 will see the premiere of Skeleton Crew, continuing into early 2025. While these series and the upcoming film might not venture into the same galaxy where characters like Ahsoka Tano and Sabine are stranded, they could potentially include significant figures such as Grand Admiral Thrawn, Hera Syndulla, and Ezra Bridger.
