‘Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse’ Star Has Not Recorded Lines For Sequel

Spidy fans looking forward to Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, the highly anticipated follow-up to 2023’s Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, might be in it for the long haul, as voice star Jharrel Jerome has revealed that he has not started recording his lines for the sequel.

Speaking to Decider during an interview for Amazon’s Unstoppable, the Emmy-winning actor was asked about the state of production regarding the upcoming Spider-Verse animated film, to which he responded that it “hasn’t started up yet” and that “a lot of things being figured out, but good things.”

The fact that Jerome has not begun production on his end certainly doesn’t bode well for those eagerly anticipating the film’s release, as his character, Earth-42’s Miles G. Morales, would seemingly play a major role as the antagonist in the upcoming movie. In the finale of Across the Spider-Verse, protagonist Mile Morales, voiced by Shameik Moore, encounters his Earth-42 counterpart, who was revealed to be that world’s version of the Prowler instead of Spider-Man.

Miles G. Morales missed the opportunity to become Spider-Man as the radioactive spider that was due to bite him shifted realities and bit Moore’s character instead. Following the death of Earth-42’s Peter Parker, New York was subsequently ruled by Supervillains, which led to Miles G. Morales taking on the mantle of the Prowler, setting up a clash between him and Mile’s Spider-Man in Beyond the Spider-Verse.

That being said, fan’s are most probably due for a long wait. According to Deadline, Sony has no plans for the sequel to be released in 2025 and judging by the release timeline of the two previous films, Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse would likely drop closer to 2028.
