‘Spartacus: House of Ashur’ Starz Sequel Series Set After 10-Year Hiatus

Finally, a decade after the final instalment of the Spartacus universe ended in 2013, the gods have shown favour, and granted us Spartacus: House of Ashur. The series is expected to be “a history-bending, erotic, thrilling, roller-coaster experience”.

According to Deadline, Starz has greenlit the new 10-episode series where Nick Tarabay will reprise his role of Ashur. Yes, fans of the series will remember him as the devious and conniving villain who eventually met his demise. The original series creator, Steven S. DeKnight also returns to serve as showrunner and executive producer.

“To be afforded the opportunity to return a decade later to a series you loved is such a rare, wonderful opportunity. I could not be more excited to craft this next chapter in the Spartacus saga with STARZ, Lionsgate, and the incomparable Nick Tarabay.”

DeKnight, Showrunner & Executive Producer

Spartacus: Blood and Sand debuted on Starz in 2010 and was followed by a prequel 6-episode miniseries Spartacus: Gods of the Arena (2011). The series then ran for two more seasons Spartacus: Vengeance (2012) and Spartacus: War of the Damned (2013).

The biggest question on fans’ minds would be how could Ashur be retconned and brought back in a sequel series of his own when he was clearly decapitated by Naevia in Spartacus: Vengeance. And if Ashur could be brought back from the dead, perhaps other fan favourites too? Regardless of what direction the series will take, we are more than pumped for more blood and gore from the expanding Spartacus universe.
