Sonic the Hedgehog Movie Is Dashing Forward With A Sequel

After a surprisingly successful showing, it seems a movie sequel is in order for Sonic the Hedgehog.

First reported by Variety, the sequel will see Sonic director Jeff Fowler and screenwriters Pat Casey and Josh Miller reuniting to develop a follow-up to the 2020 film. With the movie still being in early development, not much about the cast and the rest of the crew are known yet.

Furthermore, with the COVID-19 pandemic still going on, it is difficult to say when production for the film will be able to begin.

Despite its later success in the box office, the film was first hit with flak for the design of its titular character, which was weirdly human-like with smaller eyes than the Sonic in the games, as well as human teeth.

Needless to say, fans of Sonic were not happy with the design and the uproar was big enough that it prompted Paramount to delay the movie’s release so that they could improve on Sonic’s design. It was an incredibly smart move on their part, with how well the film would go on to perform in theatres.
