‘Silent Hill 2’ Remake Has PlayStation 5 Exclusivity For A Year

It’s better late than never for the Silent Hill 2 remake, as Sony has revealed the console exclusivity window for the highly-anticipated title. According to a new “immersion” trailer (spotted by Eurogamer), it will be console-exclusive to PS5 for one year, with availability on “other formats” starting 8 October 2025.

The vague phrasing gives little away, but the Xbox Series X|S and potentially, Nintendo’s next-generation console — dubbed Switch 2 and launching in early 2025 — are likely included. Bloober Team’s upcoming entry also features full support for the DualSense’s features, including haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, and a dynamic lightbar feature that displays protagonist James’ health status, as shown in the trailer.

Silent 2 Remake PS5 Console Exclusivity

Hitting PC and PS5 on 8 October, it serves as a remake of the 2001 psychological horror classic that follows James Sunderland on his quest to search for clues in the namesake town, after receiving a mysterious letter from his late wife. Expect plenty of familiar monsters like the Mannequins, Nurses and Pyramid Head, alongside polished visuals and other modern updates.

The playtime won’t be the same as before, though. The Polish developer puts completion “around 16 to 18 hours”, assuring longtime fans that all of the plot points in the original Silent Hill 2 will remain intact.
