PlayStation has concluded yet another round of its State of Play gaming showcases, with September’s iteration spotlighting all the major games to come for Sony’s gaming console, alongside a few massive expansions to already released titles.
While some of PlayStation Studios’ most anticipated titles were unfortunately a no-show, such as Naughty Dog’s Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet or Santa Monica’s God of War Laufey, the showcase was a massive one nonetheless, featuring deep dives into upcoming titles like Square Enix’s Final Fantasy VII Revelation, which also received a proper release date, alongside some unexpected sequels like Maneater 2, and major DLC’s for games like Monster Hunter Wilds and Ghost of Yōtei.
Here’s a recap of all the games announced at State of Play September 2026:
Marvel’s Wolverine
Ahead of its imminent launch on 15 September, Marvel’s Wolverine has received one final trailer, this time featuring more of its brutal combat and team-ups with Sabretooth and Mystique as the hero faces off against Sentinels of various sizes.
Ghost of Yōtei Complete Edition – Echoes of Sekigahara + Most Wanted
Sucker Punch has shown off two trailers for its upcoming Ghost of Yōtei Complete Edition, which bundles the main game alongside its upcoming expansion, Echoes of Sekigahara, which is set to feature a new location, more powerful enemies, and an additional weapon type.
Additionally, the Complete Edition will also include a new game mode, Most Wanted, which is a single-player roguelike mode where players can play as different characters, including Jin Sakai, the protagonist of 2020’s Ghost of Tsushima. The expansion and new mode will be available on 1 October 2026.
Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance
Capcom has unveiled the first look at its upcoming expansion, Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance, which will arrive in 2027 and feature new monsters and challenges, evolved hunting actions and mechanics, and a massive new location.
Metro 2039
4A Games has dropped a gameplay trailer for its Metro 2039 sequel running on the PS5 Pro, featuring its new protagonist, The Stranger, facing off against mutant threats while he explores the irradiated surface of post-apocalyptic Moscow. The game also received its official release date and is due out on 4 February 2027.
Maneater 2
Hungry shark, doo doo doo doo doo doo. In a surprise reveal, the 2020 ShaRkPG Maneater is getting a sequel, with the trailer showcasing the game’s setting – a luxury seaside theme park named Neptune’s Kingdom, which will no doubt be a playground for players to cause chaos in.
Crimson Desert Chartering the Unknown DLC
Pearl Abyss is back at it again with its impressive post-launch support for Crimson Desert, with its latest DLC, Chartering the Unknown, featuring some sort of base-building mechanic and a new underwater exploration segment which sees players traversing on the back of a shark. The DLC is due out on 15 October 2026.
Final Fantasy Resonance
Square Enix has announced a demo for its upcoming HD-2D turn-based RPG, Final Fantasy Resonance, allowing players to get an early look at the game by experiencing its entire first chapter ahead of its launch on 22 October 2026.
Gundam Rogue Orbit
Bandai Namco Studios’ Gundam Rogue Orbit has received a new trailer showing off more of its flashy mecha combat action, alongside a confirmation of its release date, with the game arriving on 5 March 2027.
Hunters Moon
Hunter’s Moon is a first-person historical narrative folk horror game set throughout one night, where players will play as a woman accused of witchcraft as they work to escape to safety by eavesdropping on villagers and avoiding capture by the witch hunters. The game will be released on 26 October 2026.
Uncanyon
Uncanyon is an indie isometric puzzle action game where players will explore a constantly shifting world while avoiding traps and overcoming obstacles by changing the state of the environment. The game is due out in 2027.
Keeper
Hailing from Double Fine Productions, Keeper is a surreal third-person puzzle adventure which sees players taking on the role of a walking lighthouse as they use light to solve environmental puzzles, with the game seamlessly transitioning from third-person to side-scrolling segments. The game is out now on the PS5.
Rev. NOiR
Konami’s new RPG, Rev. NOiR, has received its second trailer, with the game following protagonists Finé and Asch as they embark on a journey to stop the lightfall, a catastrophe that kills all it touches. The game will launch in 2027.
Rhapsody in Scarlet
Set in the jazz-filled streets of 1920s New York, Rhapsody in Scarlet is an upcoming action RPG that features combo-based combat where the magus Ellie Myers can call upon various beasts and spells to assist her in combat and traversal.
Saros Zenith Update
Saros is getting a major content drop in the form of a free Zenith update, which adds two new game modes – Overlord Rush, which tasks players with more powerful variants of foes from the main game back-to-back for a high score, and Eclipse Layers, a new game+ mode which allows seasoned enforcers to put their skills to the ultimate test. The update will also include more accessibility settings, like High-Contrast visuals and a toggleable “Slow Game Speed” option, when it arrives later in 2026.
Gran Turismo 7 Spec IV Update
Gran Turismo 7 marks yet another game to get updates, with its Spec IV launching in two parts later in 2026 and bringing new circuits, new cars, and Family Mode in October and December.
Until Dawn 2
Until Dawn 2 has received a new trailer highlighting the many choices players will make throughout the narrative-driven horror game, with each coming with their own set of consequences. The game will launch on 26 January 2027.
Final Fantasy VII Revelation
Closing off the main State of Play showcase was Final Fantasy VII Revelation, the much-anticipated final chapter in the trilogy, with the game receiving not just a lengthy combat and exploration deep-dive trailer highlighting some of its new mechanics like the FITS sub-class system, more expansive open world exploration with the Highwind airship, and the first look at Wutai, but the game has also received its official release date of 8 April 2027.
But that’s not all, as the main showcase was followed by State of Play Japan, which offered some additional trailers of its own.
Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3
The newest trailer for Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 highlights the many ways players can create their own custom fighter, including six unique Avatar races and flexible combat style adjustments. The game will also feature over 130 characters to learn additional skills from as they forge their own story.
Fate/Extra Record
Originally released in 2010 in Japan, the Fate series’ first RPG, Fate/Extra, is back and fully remade for modern platforms, featuring an expanded scenario, completely overhauled character graphics, and a highly strategic deck-building dramatic command battle system. The remake will launch on 28 January 2027.
Dragon Quest Monsters: The Withered World
The latest entry in the monster-capturing Dragon Quest Monsters franchise has received a new trailer that outlines how players will scout and recruit monsters to add to their collection. The game will launch on 3 December 2026.
The Eminence in Shadow: Phantom Echoes
As the first console release for the franchise, The Eminence in Shadow: Phantom Echoes transforms the Japanese light novel series into a roguelite action game, which will launch in 2027.
Rematch Blue Lock Collaboration
Sloclap’s arcade football game Rematch has announced a collaboration with the football anime Blue Lock, bringing some of its iconic characters into the game when the crossover kicks off on 24 September 2026.
Where the Seeds Fall
CygamesEdge, a smaller-scale game development subunit of Cygames, has unveiled its first title, Where the Seeds Fall, which is an action-adventure game due out on 5 November 2026 that focuses on verticality, where characters need to descend from a great height.
WPCA: World Phasebound Control Authority
Krafton has dropped the first trailer for WPCA: World Phasebound Control Authority, a game which sees players facing bizarrely altered supernatural phenomena in different containment zones, with the trailer featuring references to the Backrooms and Exit 8. The game is set for 2028.
Stupid Never Dies
GPTRACK50 Inc.’s zombie action game Stupid Never Dies has received a new trailer showcasing its combat, with a game demo out now that allows players to try out its first two hours.
SlashZero
SlashZero is a side-scrolling action roguelike game featuring a roster of unique playable characters and customisable builds, where players will traverse through shattered timelines to take down Hieros-I. The game will launch in Spring 2027, with a time-limited demo out now.
Digimon Story Time Stranger A Hero’s Eternal Legacy
Digimon Story Time Stranger returns with its full-scale expansion, which will take place three years after the events of the main game and follows a brand-new protagonist. The A Hero’s Eternal Legacy expansion will launch in 2027.
CONQ – Crown Of No Quarter
The first trailer for the dark fantasy action game CONQ – Crown Of No Quarter has been revealed, showcasing ship battles and a large-scale invasion of an enemy fort.
Daba: Land of Water Scar
China Hero Project has offered a first look at Daba: Land of Water Scar, its upcoming soulslike, which follows the story of a puppet exploring ancient ruins and snowy mountains as he harnesses the power of an ancient mask and wields different weapon archetypes like twin blades, greatswords, and massive hammers.
