Secretlab Spins A New SoftWeave Fabric For Better Gaming Chairs

There’s nothing quite as life-changing as getting a gaming chair.

Ok, that might be an exaggeration, but these flashy, PU covered seats modeled after race cars are pretty neat, if not slightly gaudy. And before Singapore’s very own Secretlab entered the picture, gaming chairs were also overpriced furniture that catered to a niche market.

But when gaming buddies turned Secretlab-founders Ian Ang and Alaric Choo entered the picture, their plan to revolutionize the market didn’t start with flashy designs or loud colours. Instead, the duo went with comfort, and started making quality chairs since 2014.

And they’re about to get more comfortable, with the addition of their all-new SoftWeave series. Secretlab’s current series of chairs are made with synthetic or real leather, which looks and feels great, but maybe some people don’t like the leather look. Or maybe the local weather makes the chairs less cushy when the air conditioning is turned off. Or maybe they want a material that’ll breathe better than synthetic leather, but not as expensive as real leather.

SoftWeave is Secretlab’s new custom-made fabric that is an alternative to the synthetic leather. The fabric is custom-made and engineered from high-quality 350gsm short-yarn. The fabric then goes through a grinding process that creates a breathable, soft, and durable material.

Secretlab promises a fabric that will be durable enough to last for a long time, but also flexible enough to conform to the user’s body. The new SoftWeave is available on the THRONE 2018, OMEGA 2018, and TITAN chairs, along with all the features that were available on them, such as the multi-tilt mechanism, four-directional armrests, as well as velour memory-foam.

“We were inspired by the use of new fabrics in the streetwear and activewear industry to create breathable, performance-enhancing products. Even the world’s tech giants are now incorporating the use of fabrics to their devices. After extensive research and rigorous tests we created SoftWeave which is the perfect balance between comfort, breathability and style,” said Alaric Choo, co-founder and Technical Director & Partnership of Secretlab.

The SoftWeave will be available in three colour schemes:

  • Cookies & Cream (light grey fabric with black suede accents), available for the OMEGA 2018 and TITAN.
  • Charcoal (dark grey fabric with azure blue stitching), available for the OMEGA 2018.
  • Coal Pink (dark grey fabric with magenta stitching), available for the THRONE 2018.
