Screaming Is Allowed On Roller Coasters As Universal Studios Singapore Reopens On 1 July

With Singapore fresh into Phase Two of the Circuit Breaker, many are slowly easing back into the outdoors lifestyle. Come 1 July 2020, individuals will be able to visit Universal Studios (USS) and the casino at Resorts World Sentosa once again, before the reopening of S.E.A Aquarium three days later.

Health and safety is priority, however, and that means safe distancing measures will still be enforced. For both USS and S.E.A Aquarium, all guests are required to make an advance online reservation, and book their date of visit prior to visitation. This applies to Annual and Season Pass Holders as well, with entry restricted to groups of up to five only.

The RWS Casino, meanwhile, is set to open and operate at limited capacity, where access will be given solely to existing Genting Rewards members and/or Annual Levy Holders.

Here are the reopening dates and available hours of each attraction (time in GMT+8):

  • USS: 1 July, Wednesday (2pm to 9pm from Thursday to Sunday, except opening week)
  • S.E.A Aquarium: 4 July, Saturday (10am to 5pm from Saturday to Tuesday)
  • RWS Casino: 1 July, Wednesday

Apart from the above, 10 other attractions have also been given the go-ahead to reopen: ArtScience Museum, Sands SkyPark and Observation Deck, Flower Dome at Gardens by the Bay, Singapore Zoo, Madame Tussauds, Jurong Bird Park, River Safari, Bounce, and Zero Latency.

The reopening of these tourism-linked businesses is earlier than expected, which makes for a pleasant surprise. While the restrictions may serve as a mood dampener of sorts, they are certainly more than necessary – but don’t worry, unlike Japan’s amusement parks, you’ll be able to scream mid-air while on the Battlestar Galatica, and The Mummy rides. After all, what’s a roller coaster experience without some shrieking?
