Samuel L. Jackson Says Mace Windu Still Alive, Wants Star Wars Resurrection

Since his debut in Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace, Mace Windu has been recognised as one of the most formidable Jedi Masters in the galaxy. Samuel L. Jackson, the actor behind the iconic character, even had ‘BMF’ inscribed on his lightsaber hilt, cementing Windu’s status as the ultimate Jedi badass.

Despite his apparent demise in Episode III – Revenge Of The Sith, fans have long speculated about the Jedi’s fate, fueled by the absence of a definitive on-screen death. Even then, characters from the Star Wars canon, like Darth Maul, have managed to claw their way back from the clutches of death before.

In a recent interview with Empire, Jackson himself weighed in on the matter, asserting, “HE’S NOT DEAD!!!” This simple declaration suggests that Windu may have survived his harrowing encounter with Palpatine. Furthermore, when asked about the what Jackson would want out of a Mace Windu-centric Disney+ series, his enthusiastic response, “EVERYTHING YES!!,” ignited excitement for the prospect of further exploring the character’s story.

Although Jackson’s portrayal of Windu in live-action has been limited since his apparent demise, fans were treated to a brief voice role in Episode IX The Rise Of Skywalker. Additionally, Windu fans can currently enjoy a new comic series, Star Wars: Mace Windu, offering a fresh adventure set before The Phantom Menace.

Jackson’s enthusiasm fuels the tantalising prospect of seeing the Jedi Master return to the screen. As fans eagerly await further developments, one thing remains certain: Mace Windu’s legacy is far from over in a galaxy far, far away.

Meanwhile, Star Wars fans can look forward to the Disney+ series The Acolyte, and the franchise’s first open-world video game Star Wars Outlaws, this year.
