Michael Chaves Will Direct ‘The Conjuring 4’

Settle in for one last rite, as the final mainline instalment in the Conjuring universe is one step closer to reality. The Conjuring 4 summons Michael Chaves as director once again, who directed the third movie, The Devil Made Me Do it, and The Nun II.

Negotiations are underway, but it’s more than likely Chaves will be the one to give the Conjuring mainline films a final send-off. The screenplay is already complete, penned by David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick and horror legend James Wan, who also co-produces the film with Peter Safran.

Vera Farmiga (Bates Motel) and Patrick Wilson (Aquaman), who play paranormal investigator couple Ed and Lorraine Warren, will be returning for the film, with filming set to commence in summer this year. No other cast members have been announced for The Conjuring 4, but casting is expected to be finalised soon.

Despite the final rites set in stone for the mainline films, the Conjuring universe has a haunting future ahead. Wan and Safran previously announced a Conjuring series, so long-time horror fans can look forward to more spooky developments ahead.
