Samsung’s Galaxy AI Will Roll Out To Older Galaxy Phones

With the launch of the new Samsung Galaxy S24 and Galaxy AI, the older devices in the Samsung family will enjoy a few new AI features as well.

Samsung has announced that by the first half of 2024, Galaxy devices such as the Galaxy S23 series, Galaxy S23 FE, Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Flip 5, and Galaxy Tab S9 series will have Galaxy AI implemented retroactively.

While we’re used to newer devices getting the best features, this move by Samsung is a nice touch. Considering that most of these devices were launched in 2023 it allows users to enjoy some progress after being one product launch cycle behind.

The real question remains – which of these Galaxy AI features will make it to the older models?

Our best guess is that features such as Generative Edit, Chat Assist, and Circle to Search might be the best candidates as they rely more on cloud muscle as opposed to on-device processing. Fans of the Samsung Tab 9 would do well with the help of Generative Edit allowing AI-assisted editing to help speed up their workflow.

As it stands, Samsung is making a big push into the AI space and having more users (and fans) onboard will generate a big chunk of goodwill for their cause. We’ll see if the widespread adoption of the tech does well in their favor.
