After ten years in the MCU, Robert Downey Jr. has finally opened up about his future plans. And Marvel fans, brace yourselves, as Tony Stark himself has performed something of a switcheroo as he is involved in adapting the DC Vertigo comic book series, Sweet Tooth, for Netflix.
Downey Jr. announced his new project on his social media recently, and will be executive producing the project alongside his wife Susan Downey Jr. under their production company, Team Downey, Serving as showrunners will be Beth Schwartz (Arrow, Legends of Tomorrow) and Jim Mickle (Hap and Leonard).
For the uninitiated, Sweet Tooth is a comic book series created by Jeff Lemire back back in 2009, who is known for his works in the likes of critically-acclaimed runs of DC’s Animal Man and Marvel’s Moon Knight. The story follows a teenage human-deer hybrid boy named Gus, who sets out with a group of humans and other animal-human hybrids to seek clarity in wake of a worldwide disaster that struck their home.
The series will feature eight hour-long episodes, and will star the likes of Adeel Akhtar (The Dictator), Noso Anozie (Game of Thrones), and Christian Convery. James Brolin (Traffic, the original Westworld) will lend his voice as the series’ narrator.
Netflix has yet to announce an official release date for Sweet Tooth.
Marion has a serious RPG addiction. Sometimes it bleeds into real life; he forgets to sleep because he thinks he has a Witcher’s body clock. Forgive him in advance if he suddenly blurts out terms such as “Mind Flayer” and “Magic Missile”, because never once does he stop thinking about his next Dungeons & Dragons game.
