Riot Games Sets January Relaunch For ‘League of Legends’ & ‘Teamfight Tactics’ In Southeast Asia

Following last month’s announcement that its deal with Garena will no longer continue, Riot Games has now confirmed the relaunch date of both League of Legends and Teamfight Tactics on new Riot servers. The big move is set to happen on 6 January 2023.

To celebrate the launch of Riot’s new servers, players will be given access to an exciting, month-long in-game welcome event when they log in to play in January. Tokens earned during the event can then be exchanged for free permanent skin shards, legendary eggs, and other loot. Also, players in Southeast Asia who complete a set of in-game missions will receive all previously released champions from 2009 to 2021 for free, which is an excellent value proposition, to say the least.

To better support the players in the region, Riot will have new offices across countries like the Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia/Malaysia, and India, allowing the gaming giant to continue hyper-serving local gamers and bringing local events, activities, and partnerships to players. The publishing side of things will continue to be run from Singapore and Japan, while the partnerships with Taiwan Mobile and VNGGames to bring League and TFT to Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau, and Vietnam respectively remain.

This move is good for gamers not only in terms of technical support, but also on the content front. Players will be able to gain access to previously unavailable content that other regions enjoy, including game modes such as Clash, cross-game campaign content, and the continuation of esports operations. Esports fans can also look forward to a brand new tournament to kick off the new season of League 2023.

To make the most of the shift, Riot is encouraging players to migrate the Garena League and TFT account data as soon as possible, with a full account migration tutorial and FAQ to be found on the Account Migration Microsite.
