Fresh off his work producing Zach Cregger’s Resident Evil reboot, horror legend Roy Lee is reportedly looking to expand his repertoire with another video game IP by working on a new Silent Hill film.
According to a feature on Lee by The Wall Street Journal, the 57-year-old producer has around 20 video game-related movie and TV adaptations in the works, including Prime Video’s God of War live-action series, the upcoming Battlefield film from Michael B. Jordan, and most notable of all, a mention of a project based on the “Japanese horror classic Silent Hill.”
This reveal comes not too long after the release of Christophe Gans’ Return to Silent Hill, which was a major disappointment among fans and critics alike for its poor treatment of its source material. Hopefully, with Lee’s expertise in the horror genre, this upcoming film project will fare much better.
Lee began his career with The Ring (2002) and The Grudge (2004), and continued his work on horror projects throughout the year with IT (2017), IT Chapter Two (2019), Barbarian (2022), Weapons (2025), and most recently, this year’s Resident Evil, which launched to become the most successful franchise film adaptation of all time.
The Silent Hill gaming franchise, on the other hand, needs no introduction, as it’s one of the most recognised and beloved IP in the survival horror genre. The franchise has also seen a revival of late, with new titles like the Silent Hill 2 remake (2024), Silent Hill f (2025), and this year’s Silent Hill: Townfall reinvigorating the classic series for the modern gaming audience. This is just the beginning, however, as Konami had recently unveiled plans for yearly game releases, with the next big project in the workings seemingly being the a remake of the original 1999 title by Bloober Team.
