Ready or Not 2, the potential sequel to the 2019 horror-comedy hit Ready or Not is stirring excitement among fans and filmmakers alike. The original film, directed by Radio Silence’s Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, starred Samara Weaving as a bride caught in a deadly game with her new in-laws. It grossed US$57 million on a modest US$6 million budget, proving to be both a commercial and critical success.

Ready or Not

Four years later, the prospect of Ready or Not 2 is generating buzz, particularly with directors Bettinelli-Olpin and Gillett at the helm, who have since gained recognition for their work on Scream V and Scream VI. “It’s getting figured out. That’s what we’ll say: Ready or Not 2 is getting figured out. What we can say is that there is a script that is an absolute f–king banger of a sequel. And however it gets made, and in whatever capacity we are helping get it made, we are so excited that it’s happening. That movie is truly the love of our creative lives in a lot of ways.”

Despite the lack of official confirmation, optimism remains high. The directors confirmed that the script is complete and described the project as “the love of our creative lives”. They hinted at a complex process to bring the sequel to fruition but remained hopeful about its development.

Ready or Not

Ready or Not featured a mix of black comedy and horror, depicting a macabre family ritual that turns a wedding night into a fight for survival. The ensemble cast included Mark O’Brien, Adam Brody, Henry Czerny, and Melanie Scrofano, among others. The sequel is likely to follow the surviving characters, with Samara Weaving potentially reprising her role as Grace.

The timing seems ripe for Ready or Not 2, given the current success of Bettinelli-Olpin and Gillett in the horror genre. Their increasing profile could help push the sequel into production. While details on the plot remain speculative, the story could explore the aftermath of the first film’s events, possibly delving deeper into the curse that haunts the Le Domas family.
