Instant noodles aren’t a breakfast food… right? Well, tell that to Nissin USA, which has recently developed ‘Breakfast’ flavoured cup noodles, for those adventurous enough to try something new. This might sound like an April Fools’ Day joke, but it’s entirely real.
According to the packaging, the Breakfast Cup Noodles will taste like ‘maple syrup pancakes, sausage, and egg’, typical American breakfast staples. While it looks like any other cup noodle packet, the difference lies in the sauce packet, which will likely be heavier than most flavours. It’ll take a little longer to make too, at a four-minute preparation time, but we’re certain it’ll be worth it.
Reviewers who have tried the Breakfast Cup Noodles, surprisingly, have scored it high. “I cannot believe I’m saying this, but these pancake-, syrup-, egg-, and sausage-flavoured instant ramen noodles are way better than they should be.” says The Takeout. And reception towards them has been fairly good, with Twitter users saying it is “disturbingly amazing”, and “excited to slurp that syrupy goodness.” Walmart has even endorsed it as the “Breakfast of Champions right there.”
The next time you’re quick to dismiss instant noodles as a breakfast food, you’ll find that there’s a flavour for every occasion. While the flavour will only be available in selected USA Walmart stores as a limited-edition treat for now, if it proves a hit, perhaps the Breakfast Instant Noodles will make its way to Singapore too.
