Oscar-Nominated Netflix Film ‘Nimona’ Streams Free On YouTube

Nimona, Netflix’s animated contender for the Best Animated Feature Film at the Oscars, is now available for free on YouTube, offering fans and newcomers alike the chance to see why it earned an Oscar nod. This groundbreaking move by Netflix allows viewers to stream the entire movie without a subscription, right from Netflix’s official YouTube channel.

The Netflix film, which debuted on 30 June 2023, features a star-studded voice cast including Chloë Grace Moretz, Riz Ahmed, and Eugene Lee Yang, among others.

Directed by Nick Bruno and Troy Quane, the movie quickly garnered critical acclaim for its innovative storytelling and dynamic animation style. Ahead of the 96th annual Academy Awards on 10 March, where Nimona faces stiff competition from titles like The Boy and the Heron and Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, Netflix is ensuring the film reaches a wider audience by making it freely accessible.

The film’s plot centres around the eponymous character, Nimona (Chloë Grace Moretz), and her unlikely alliance with Ballister Boldheart, voiced by Riz Ahmed. Together, they delve into a mystery that challenges their friendship and tests their resolve. The narrative unfolds with twists and turns, exploring themes of identity, acceptance, and the quest for truth.

Originally set for development at Disney, Nimona faced cancellation before Netflix rescued the project, ensuring that its story would be told. Directors Bruno and Quane, known for their work on Spies in Disguise, bring to life the vibrant world of Nimona.

Nimona is streaming on Netflix and YouTube now.
