OPPO Reno 13 Pro Gaming Test — Zenless Zone Zero, Genshin Impact, COD: Warzone Mobile & PUBG

Where smartphone gaming used to be reserved for more powerful, higher-end devices, it has now become standard fare. Modern mid-rangers are no longer shackled to the struggles of yesteryear, packing sufficient oomph to power through work and play demands — be it menial day-to-day tasks or reasonably intensive activities.

The OPPO Reno 13 Pro comes well-equipped to handle the heat, despite what its unassuming looks may suggest. Boasting a MediaTek Dimensity 8350 processor and a Mali-G615 GPU, it leverages its upgraded AI HyperBoost gaming engine and Adaptive Frame Booster tech to deliver reliable gaming performance without breaking the bank.

Display-wise, users can expect a 6.83-inch OLED display touting an FHD+ resolution and a maximum refresh rate of 120Hz. The surprise standout, though, is the handset’s thermal management capabilities, which surpass expectations for a non-gaming device.

Indeed, the device can certainly hold its own in Zenless Zone Zero, Genshin Impact, Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile, and PUBG Mobile. The frame rates tend to dip during moments of hectic on-screen action or when particle effects run loose, but the overall experience remains enjoyable, and smooth for the most part — as seen in the video above.

The OPPO Reno 13 Pro lands in Singapore on 1 January (4 January on the official OPPO store) with a launch price of S$999 (12GB RAM + 512GB ROM), coming in Plume Purple or Graphite Gray. Meanwhile, the base Reno 13 model retails for S$799 at launch (12GB + 256GB) and is available in two colour options: Plume White and Luminous Blue.
