CES 2025 (short for Consumer Electronics Show) is where the big tech toys get their time to shine, and LG is leading the pack with a pre-event tease of its lineup for the new year. Ahead of the annual convention, held from 8 to 11 January in Las Vegas, the Korean giant has unveiled its LG UltraGear GX9 gaming monitor series that touts the “world’s first 5K2K-resolution bendable OLED display.”
Sporting a resolution of 5,120 x 2,160, it includes two 45-inch, 21:9 models — the 45GX990A and the 45GX950A. Both feature the brand’s second-generation Dual-Mode, allowing users to switch between customisable aspect ratios (21:9 or 16:9) and picture sizes (34, 39, or 27 inches). The monitors will also ship with eight configurations that adapt to different genres, including FPS, RPG, MOBA, and racing simulators.
Of the two, the 45GX990A has bendable properties, with the ability to transition from completely flat to a 900R curvature. Additionally, it boasts NVIDIA G-Sync and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro certification, but there’s no word on the exact refresh rate yet.
The standard 45GX950A model shares the same 45-inch panel, aspect ratio, and 5K2K resolution, which accompany an RGWB subpixel layout for improved text readability. Like its more flexible sibling, the gaming monitor offers a 0.03-millisecond response time, support for DisplayPort 2.1, HDMI 2.1, and USB-C with 90W power delivery.
The last addition to the lineup would be the curved UltraGear 39GX90SA, coming in at 39 inches. It remains the 21:9 aspect ratio and 800R curve and per the official description, “incorporates LG’s ergonomic and space-saving L-shaped stand for a clutter-free desk setup.”
As is always the case with CES news, pricing, availability and a specific release date for the LG UltraGear GX9 series will only be announced later in 2025. This year’s event is scheduled for 8 to 11 January, promising a slew of new releases from LG and many other companies.
