‘Ocean’s Eleven’ Prequel To Cast Bradley Cooper Opposite Margot Robbie

Heist comedy will soon be back in fashion, and at least two A-listers are set to lead the charge. Bradley Cooper is in talks to star opposite Margot Robbie in Warner Bros.’ upcoming Ocean’s Eleven prequel, with no deal finalised just yet.

While story details remain under wraps, the project was pitched as an original tale set in 1960s Europe, and at one point, saw Ryan Gosling circling a role, which would have reunited him with his Barbie co-star in Barbie. Lee Isaac Chung, the filmmaker behind Twisters, is on board as director, taking over the reins from Jay Roach, while Carrie Solomon penned the script.

The Ocean’s Eleven prequel will be the first entry in the film series since Ocean’s 8, led by Sandra Bullock and Cate Blanchett. It currently has no official title, but a few numbers are currently unavailable — ’12’ and ’13’ were used for the sequels to the 2001 film starring George Clooney, Matt Damon, Brad Pitt and Julia Roberts, who are all expected to return in David Leitch’s Ocean’s 14, set to begin shooting in 2026.

Based on the 1960 film of the same title, the Steven Soderbergh-directed Ocean’s Eleven follows Danny Ocean (Clooney), a recently paroled con artist who orchestrates a complex scheme to simultaneously rob the vaults of three major Las Vegas casinos owned by Terry Benedict (Andy Garcia, The Untouchables), the current partner of Ocean’s ex-wife, Tess (Roberts).

It contributed US$450 million to the franchise’s combined haul of US$1.4 billion across four films released in 2004 (Ocean’s Twelve), 2007 (Ocean’s Thirteen), and 2018 (Ocean’s 8). No release was announced for the prequel.
