Nothing Phone (3a) Pro Gaming Test — Zenless Zone Zero, Genshin Impact, Wuthering Waves & PUBG Mobile

The Nothing Phone series has built an identity around its stylish flair, with a distinctive glyph interface and cyberpunk-esque aesthetic becoming hallmarks of its design. Three iterations on, the tradition now sees a glass back panel instead of polycarbonate, complementing the same bells and whistles from before.

But the Nothing Phone (3a) Pro isn’t just for show. The mid-range device packs the hardware chops for both work and play, featuring a Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 processor, a Qualcomm Hexagon NPU (short for Neural Processing Unit), and an Adreno 810 GPU — the same as the base model. However, it offers more memory with 12GB of ROM and 256GB of RAM, versus the 8GB + 128GB configuration on the latter.

According to the company, the upgraded oomph allows for more stable frame rates and higher gaming speeds. GPU performance is reportedly 33 per cent faster than its predecessor, while the GPU delivers 11 per cent better graphics.

Display-wise, users can expect a 6.77-inch flexible AMOLED display, a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate, and a resolution of 2,392 x 1,080. Put the two together, and the handset turns into an affordable powerhouse that handles the gaming gauntlet of Zenless Zone Zero, Genshin Impact, Wuthering Waves, and PUBG Mobile with relative ease, cementing itself as the best-in-class for its price range at S$649.
