The eagerly anticipated sequel to Universal’s 2021 hit Nobody is set to ignite the box office with the addition of Sharon Stone, joining Bob Odenkirk in Nobody 2. Stone, celebrated for her roles in Basic Instinct and her Oscar-nominated performance in Casino, will play the chief villain in this action-packed instalment, as per THR. Known for her philanthropic work and recent notable television roles in Ratched and The New Pope, Stone’s casting promises a riveting showdown with Odenkirk’s character, Hutch Mansell.
Hutch, the ostensibly mild-mannered family man with a hidden past as a government assassin, finds a formidable adversary in Stone’s character. With scant details released about the plot, anticipation builds around the narrative that will once again throw Hutch into the depths of his lethal skills.
Indonesian filmmaker Timo Tjahjanto (The Night Comes for Us) is set to direct the sequel, promising to bring his unique flair for horror and action to the film. The screenplay sees a collaborative effort from a diverse team including Derek Kolstad, Aaron Rabin, star Bob Odenkirk himself, and Umair Aleem, ensuring the continuation of the thrilling and intense action that fans admired in the first film. Nobody’s original producing team, including Odenkirk, Kelly McCormick, and David Leitch of 87North, are on board, maintaining the creative dynamics that spurred the original film’s success.
The narrative thrust of Nobody 2 remains shrouded in mystery, but with the original film grossing over US$57.5 million worldwide on a modest budget, expectations are high. The first film was praised for its gritty action sequences and dark humour, elements that are likely to be preserved and expanded in the sequel.
Nobody, which debuted during the pandemic, was a sleeper hit that revitalised the action genre with its darkly comic undertones and brutal fight choreography. Odenkirk’s portrayal of Hutch Mansell resonated with audiences, blending his comedic talent with unexpected action-hero charisma. The inclusion of Sharon Stone as the antagonist adds a new layer of excitement, promising a clash that will leverage her commanding screen presence.
The anticipation for Nobody 2 is further heightened by its scheduled release on 15 August 2025. Fans are keen to see how the dynamics between Odenkirk and Stone will unfold, with both actors bringing significant gravitas and history to their roles.
