NieR: Automata Ver1.1a is back for Season 2, with a second cour of episodes releasing this July. Based on hit action role-playing game NieR: Automata, the anime adapts the game’s overall storyline, but with a few bonus scenes. Season 1 last left off on a cliffhanger, and Season 2 is packed with plenty of action, if the teaser trailer is anything to go by.
NieR:Automata tells the story of androids 2B, 9S and A2 and their battle to reclaim the machine-driven dystopia overrun by powerful machines. Humanity has been driven from the Earth by mechanical beings from another world. In a final effort to take back the planet, the human resistance sends a force of android soldiers to destroy the invaders. Now, a war between machines and androids rages on… A war that could soon unveil a long-forgotten truth of the world.
Japanese artist LiSA (Demon Slayer) performs the season’s opening theme with original song “Black Box”, to a high-octane montage filled with explosions, epic fights, and N2 joins the fray as a new shadowy antagonist, as things begin to heat up.
NieR: Automata Ver1.1a Season 2 will premiere this July.
