Apple has just unveiled a new and most affordable Apple Pencil to date, complete with a USB-C port of course. It will cost a mere S$119. In comparison, the Apple Pencil (1st generation) costs S$150.35 while the Apple Pencil (2nd generation) costs S$200.85.
The new Apple Pencil has a matte finish and a flat side that magnetically attaches to the side of the iPad. It also pairs and charges only with a USB-C cable. A sliding cap reveals the USB-C port, that allows a USB-C cable to connect the new Apple Pencil to a compatible iPad (with a USB-C port) for pairing and charging. When magnetically attached to an iPad, it automatically enters into a sleep state to preserve battery life.

One thing to note though, with its new low price, some features from the previous 2nd generation are no longer in place. The pencil’s tip is no longer pressure-sensitive, it no longer pairs and charges wirelessly, double-tapping to change tools and the free engraving service is no longer available.
Here’s a comparison chart that shows the key differences between the three versions of Apple Pencils over the years.

The new Apple Pencil is compatible with all iPad models with a USB-C port, including iPad (10th generation), iPad Air (4th and 5th generations), iPad Pro 11-inch (1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th generations), iPad Pro 12.9-inch (3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th generations), and iPad mini (6th generation). It will be available separately for S$119, and will start shipping in early November.
For existing owners of Apple Pencil (1st generation), there is a USB-C to Apple Pencil Adapter sold separately for S$15.10.
