Nakama, raise the sails! It’s time to head to the Grand Line! Fans of Netflix’s One Piece will be over the moon to know that the Straw Hat Pirates will be returning soon in season two of the live-adaptation of the popular eponymous manga by Eiichiro Oda. While not much information has been released, Netflix has officially shared another glimpse of the Straw Hats.
The image depicts Nami (Emily Rudd, Fear Street), Sanji (Taz Skylar, Gassed Up), Monkey D. Luffy (Iñaki Godoy, The Imperfects), Roronoa Zoro (Arata Mackenyu, Rurouni Kenshin: The Final) and Usopp (Jacob Gibson, Greenleaf) onboard their crew’s ship, the Going Merry.

On top of that, Netflix has teased a major reveal ahead of One Piece Day, an annual event that celebrates all things One Piece and will take place in Tokyo this year from 9 to 10 August. In their Instagram reveal of the Straw Hats, they shared the following caption: “Can you feel it in the wind, Nakama? 🌊 The seas are restless and rumours from the Grand Line speak of something BIG approaching for ONE PIECE DAY! 😆🏴☠️ Trust us, you’ll want to be aboard when it hits!”
While no additional details have been revealed, there has still been a great deal of information for fans to chew on while awaiting the Straw Hats’ return. A statement by Oda himself has revealed that Season Two will follow the Straw Hat Pirates as they journey through the Loguetown, Reverse Mountain, Whisky Peak, Little Garden, and Drum Island arcs. Though this remains as a great deal of source material for the show to work with, with Oda himself helming the project as an executive producer, as well as a production team who, by Oda’s own admission, is committed to produce a show that will meet his standards, Season Two is likely to be just as big of a hit as Season One was.
In fact, with Oda present for the filming of Season Two this time, having made the journey to Cape Town, South Africa, to be on the set, fans can rest assured that the newly cast members and upcoming season will perfectly embody the vision that the manga’s creator himself had. “Seeing them all in person convinced me: they were absolutely the perfect choice!” said Oda, in an illustrated letter to the series’ dedicated fans. “Trust me, this is going to surpass Season 1! Stay tuned for Season 2!”
The new season will primarily see the Straw Hat Pirates taking the perilous journey over Reverse Mountain to enter the Grand Line, the most dangerous sea in the One Piece world. Home to unpredictable phenomena and the world’s most powerful pirate crews and organisations, the Grand Line will bring our Straw Hats face to face with the powerful criminal syndicate, Baroque Works, led by one of the Seven Warlords of the Sea, Sir Crocodile, also known as Mr. 0 within his organisation, played by Joe Manganiello (Magic Mike XXL).

Other than Manganiello, Mikaela Hoover (Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Superman) joins the cast as Straw Hat Pirates’ reindeer doctor, Tony Tony Chopper. Executive members of the Baroque Works, also known as Agents, have also been cast, with Lera Abova (Pitch Perfect: Bumper in Berlin) as the intriguing Miss All-Sunday, partner to Mr. 0, Charithra Chandran (Bridgerton) as Miss Wednesday, Yonda Thomas (Redemption) as Mr. 8, Sophia Anne Caruso (The School for Good and Evil) as Miss Goldenweek, Daniel Lasker (Raised by Wolves) as Mr. 9, Camrus Johnson (Batwoman) as Mr. 5, Jazzara Jaslyn (Warrior) as Miss Valentine and David Dastmalchian (The Suicide Squad) as Mr. 3.
In addition, other notable characters have also joined the roster, with Rigo Sanchez (Outer Banks, Goliath) playing the mysterious Dragon, Katey Sagal (Sons of Anarchy, The Conners) as Dr. Kureha, Mark Harelik (Presumed Innocent, Preacher) as Dr. Hiriluk, Werner Coetser (Getroud met rugby) as Dorry, co-captain of the Giant Warrior Pirates, Brendan Murray (Raised by Wolves) as Brogy, co-captain of the Giant Warrior Pirates, Clive Russell (Game of Thrones) as Crocus, Callum Kerr (Monarch) as Captain Smoker of the Marines, Julia Rehwald (Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures) as Master Chief Petty Officer Tashigi of the Marines, and Rob Colletti (The Many Saints of Newark) as Wapol, King of Drum Kingdom.
Filming for Season 2 has officially wrapped, and Netflix has confirmed the release has been set for 2026. In the meantime, Mugiwara fans will simply have to hold on to their straw hats and sit tight on the masthead, for the journey will soon begin.
