The mech action may have ended with the conclusion of Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury, but the story of protagonists Suletta and Miorine isn’t yet over. A spin-off manga titled Seishun Frontier has been announced, featuring a parallel setting where the pair meet as high school students in a near-future Japan.

The offshoot will begin serialisation in Kadokawa’s ComicNewtype in early 2025, with HISADAKE, who served as setting assistant for the original anime, penning the scenario. Hiro Hata (Dogs and the Brave Are Not Showy) provides the art and costume designs, including the official visual below:
More information about Seishun Frontier, such as story specifics, is expected at a later date. Studio Sunrise helmed the Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury anime, which ran for two seasons from 2022 to 2023. The series is known for introducing a female protagonist — a first for the long-running mecha franchise — and its LGBTQ+ representation, portrayed through a canonical same-sex marriage between Suletta and Miorine.
The two characters are voiced by Kana Ichinose (Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End, Darling in the Franxx) and Lynn (I Want to Eat Your Pancreas, Keijo) respectively, joining an ensemble cast that includes Miyu Tomita (Made in Abyss, Kaguya-sama: Love is War) as Chuatury Panlunch, Yume Miyamoto (SSSS. Gridman, Godzilla: Singular Point) as Nika Nanaura, Yohei Azakami (Sakura Wars, Kuromukuro) as Guel Jeturk, Natsuki Hanae (Dandadan, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba) as Elan Ceres, and Makoto Furukawa (Blue Lock, Dr. Stone) as Shaddiq Zenelli.
The anime’s premise reads, “A.S. (Ad Stella) 122― An era when a multitude of corporations have entered space and built a huge economic system. A lone girl from the remote planet Mercury transfers to the Asticassia School of Technology, run by the Beneritt Group which dominates the mobile suit industry. Her name is Suletta Mercury. With a scarlet light burning in her pure heart, this girl walks step by step through a new world.”
