Marvel’s Kevin Feige Confirms MCU Phase 3 Will End With Spider-Man: Far From Home, Not Avengers: Endgame

Though it was widely believed that Phase 3 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe will end with Avengers: Endgame, it seems Marvel Studios’ Chief Kevin Feige has other plans.

In an interview with Bilibili in Shanghai, Feige confirmed that Phase 3 of the MCU will end with Spider-Man: Far From Home, instead of Avengers: Endgame.

While there has never been any confirmation from Marvel Studios, it was always believed that Spider-Man: Far From Home will be the film to kick start Phase 4 of the MCU.

Though, thinking about it, Phase 3 closing with Spider-Man: Far From Home does make more sense as it will be a good lead up to the future films in the MCU, plus Marvel does have a track record of ending phases on a lighter note. Such as how Phase 2 ended with Ant-Man, which followed the much heavier Avengers: Age of Ultron.

Spider-Man: Far From Home has also been reported to take place minutes after the events of Endgame which will give fans a nice epilogue of sorts, showing the immediate effects of Endgame. It also makes sense to have Spider-Man, who’s bound to be one of the key players in the MCU moving forward, round off Phase 3 of the MCU and usher in a new age of superheroes.

What this news also means, however, is that for now we still don’t know what’s going to happen for Phase 4. Sure we do know that there are several projects in Marvel Studios’ pipeline such as The Eternals and Black Widow but none have been officially confirmed by the studio so far. The only two films that are confirmed are Avengers: Endgame and Spider-Man: Far From Home.

Feige has also confirmed that the upcoming Disney+ series such as Loki, WandaVision, and Falcon and the Winter Soldier will play key roles in the upcoming MCU, but refuses to disclose any further information on upcoming MCU movies.

“As we’ve been doing for years, [we] aren’t going to announce anything post-Avengers: Endgame or Spider-Man: Far From Home until post-Endgame and Spider-Man,” Feige told The Hollywood Reporter.

Thankfully we won’t have to wait that long for Avengers: Endgame as it is hitting theatres on April 24 this week!
