Barbie star Margot Robbie goes from Barbieland to The Sims and is set to produce a movie based on the popular simulation game, helmed by director and screenwriter Kate Herron (Loki). Publisher Electronic Arts (EA) will also be on board, following a rising trend in video games to live-action movie adaptations.
LuckyChap, Robbie’s production company which previously worked on Barbie, is back once more for The Sims, and given that the game shares plenty of similarities with Barbie — both have residents who live in a seemingly utopian world and lead idyllic lives and hopefully, the film will get the essence of the game right.
Since its inception in 2000, the game has been going strong for 24 years and has seen renewed popularity after the base game of The Sims 4 became free-to-play. A movie around the franchise has plenty of potential, with its expansion packs branching out into vampires,
Plot and casting details have not been announced yet, but we could see famous stars in the cast roster when more details about The Sims movie surface.
