Lollipop Chainsaw Remake Brings The Absurdity In 2023

‘Lollipop Chainsaw RePop’ Slices Through Calendar For Early Sept Release

Lollipop Chainsaw RePop is set to slice its way into players’ hearts earlier than anticipated, now launching on 12 September 2024. This announcement by Dragami Games shakes up the expected release schedule, moving up from the previously set date of 25 September.

Developed for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, Nintendo Switch, and PC, this game revives the quirky and vibrant universe of the original Lollipop Chainsaw. The initial game, released in 2012, became a cult classic for its unique blend of horror, comedy, and high school cheerleading chaos. It starred Juliet Starling, a chainsaw-wielding cheerleader battling hordes of zombies in a bid to save her school—and the world—from the undead apocalypse.

Lollipop Chainsaw RePop, promises to remain true to the original’s spirit while enhancing the experience with modern graphics and gameplay improvements. Dragami Games has emphasised that while the storyline remains untouched, players can expect “quality-of-life improvements and additional gameplay content.”

The journey to the release of Lollipop Chainsaw RePop has not been smooth, with the game experiencing multiple delays. When the game was announced in 2022, it was originally slated for a 2023 launch. It was then pushed to summer 2024 before being again postponed to 25 September 2024. The announcement it’s being released two weeks earlier is a pleasant surprise for fans who’ve been waiting for a remake of the cult classic.

Lollipop Chainsaw‘s legacy of blending irreverent humour with genuine gaming challenges set a high bar that RePop aims to meet—and exceed. As Dragami Games CEO Yoshimi Yasuda stated, this remake is not just a nostalgia trip but a refined, definitive version that enhances everything fans love about the original.

With its release just around the corner, fans of the original and newcomers alike are keen to see how Juliet Starling’s zany adventures have been reimagined for the current generation of gaming. Mark your calendars for 12 September to join Juliet and her decapitated boyfriend’s head in a whole new round of zombie-slaying action.
