‘Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP’ Remake Up For 2024 Release After Delay

Back in July 2022, the world was treated to a surprise with the reveal of the remake of Lollipop Chainsaw, which is being published by Dragami Games. The game was set for a Summer 2023 release, but now, things have changed. The officially titled Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP remake will now be pushed back to Summer 2024 instead.

“Although development of RePOP was carried out with the intention of a 2023 release, our commitment to providing the best possible quality experience to our players led us to making the hard decision to extend the development period in order to ensure this,” Dragami Games shared via a statement.

“We sincerely apologize to all who had been waiting for the latest instalment in the Lollipop Chainsaw series, and kindly ask for your understanding in this matter.”

Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP is a remake of the original 2012 title, which was a hack-and-slash game that was worked on by Grasshopper Manufacture. It was created with the help of game director Suda51, producer Yoshimi Yasuda, and even movie guru James Gunn. The main character, Juliet Starling, was a high school cheerleader caught in the midst of a zombie outbreak, and players had to help her survive the bloodshed that follow.

While the game never resonated with critics, it did create a cult following, with fans asking for a rerelease of the original. Trying to play the original on modern platforms has proven to be a difficult task. Now, with Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP, they are getting something that is hopefully even better, but without the involvement of Suda51 or Gunn this time around.

No platforms have yet been announced for the coming release of Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP, but with Summer 2024 as the release window to look forward to, at least that’s one doubt erased for now.
