The new game is set in the year 1979, marking the earliest point in the franchise’s timeline, which is a clear indication that the developers are peeling back the layers of the series’ complex history. This setting deepens the narrative and introduces players to the origins of one of the series’ most enigmatic characters, the Mimic. Known for its violent tendencies and a story that began in the late 1970s, the Mimic was first introduced in the Tales from the Pizzaplex novels, specifically in a story titled “The Mimic.”
This character’s disturbing nature has already been explored in various forms of media within the franchise, including as the main antagonist in Steel Wool Studios’ Security Breach: Ruin expansion.
