LG Adds Apple TV App On 2019 LG OLED TVs

Following LG’s announcement during CES 2020 about its new line of 2020 smart televisions which comes with the Apple TV app, LG has announced that the Apple TV app will be coming to compatible 2019 TV models across more than 80 countries.

The app will give users access to Apple’s new Apple TV+ subscription service which features numerous popular Apple Originals such as The Morning Show starring Jennifer Anniston and Reese Witherspoon, and M. Night Shyamalan’s Servant

The Apple TV app can be accessed from the LG Home Launcher and aside from Apple TV+, it can also be used to subscribe to Apple TV channels, access your iTunes video library, and buy or rent more than 100,000 movies and TV shows from iTunes.

According to LG, a wide range of Apple TV titles that are available in Dolby Vision will be supported on LG’s latest TVs, giving viewers a truly immersive viewing experience.

LG’s 2019 TVs also come with Apple AirPlay 2 support which lets users cast content from their iPhone, iPad, or Mac straight to their LG TV. It also comes with Apple’s HomeKit which allows the TV to be controlled using Apple’s Home app or by using Siri.

These new features will now all be available on all of LG’s 2019 OLED TVs and NanoCell TVs (series SM9X and SM8X) while the Apple TV app will be available as well on select UHD TVs (series UM7X and UM6X) in late February 2020.

According to LG, the Apple TV app and Apple TV+ will be made available on 2018 LG TVs via an over-the-air firmware upgrade later this year.
