Collectors simply love blind bags right? Well, in celebration of the 60th anniversary of the X-Men franchise, KITH and ASICS have come up with a Marvel x Kith x Asics Gel-Lyte III “X-Men” collection. It will launch with seven colourways at the San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) on 19 July and via Kith’s website and select stores on 28 July.
The collection will be based on six iconic X-Men characters – Beast, Cyclops, Gambit, Rogue, Storm, and Wolverine. Wolverine, being the best there is at what he does (and most popular of course), gets two designs. One is based on his ’70s suit (blue, yellow, and black), and the other ’80s suit (yellow, brown, and red).
The coolest bit about this collection is the fact that you won’t know which shoe design you’ll be getting till you purchase and open it up. Every box contains a “Mystery Pack”, and is sealed in a blind bag, with a matching character trading card, recreated from the OG 1992 Uncanny X-Men Series 1 Trading Card set by Jim Lee. It’s even sealed in a PSA slab, and there are 8 different prism-coloured versions per character. Each blind box will cost US$195.
The shoe box design is also inspired by the 1992 trading card collection’s OG box design, which opens up and folds in nicely as a display piece for the sneakers.
