Keanu Reeves Honoured With First Lance Reddick Legacy Award At Saturn Awards

The upcoming 51st Saturn Awards will feature a poignant tribute to the late Lance Reddick, celebrated actor and John Wick co-star.

In the late actor’s honour, The Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy, and Horror Films is introducing the Lance Reddick Legacy Award. This new award, as described by Academy President Robert Holguin and Saturn producers Bradley and Kevin Marcus in a statement, is meant to recognise not only artistic talent but also the character and ambassadorship within the industry.

The inaugural Lance Reddick Legacy Award will be presented to Keanu Reeves, a close friend and colleague of Reddick in the John Wick series. Keanu Reeves, known for his diverse roles in genres spanning science fiction, fantasy, and horror, embodies the spirit of the award. His career includes iconic roles in films like The Matrix Trilogy, Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure, Constantine, Dracula, and many more.

“Keanu is not just a Hollywood icon but also a shining example of humility and gratitude. Throughout his incredible career, he has never forgotten the support of his fans and the filmmakers who’ve supported him all these years. We’re thrilled to celebrate Lance’s memory with a dear friend and a genre icon,” the statement read.

This year’s Saturn Awards ceremony is not only a celebration of genre achievements but also serves as a dedication to Lance Reddick’s memory. Reddick, who passed away in 2023, left a significant mark on the industry with roles in The Wire, Bosch, Resident Evil, the Destiny video games, and Charon in the John Wick films. His final appearances will be in Netflix’s Shirley, the John Wick spinoff Ballerina, and posthumously as Lex Luthor in the DC series Kite Man: Hell Yeah!.

Reddick’s impact extended beyond film to television and video games. His final TV role will be in the Disney+ series Percy Jackson & the Olympians. In the video game world, Keith David will succeed him as the voice of Commander Zavala in Destiny 2.

The Saturn Awards, set for 4 February, will celebrate the best in science fiction, fantasy, and horror while honouring the enduring legacy of Lance Reddick and his contributions to the genre.
