Jurassic World 3 Sees Sam Neill And Laura Dern Reuniting With Jeff Goldblum

We’re still a long way till the premiere of Jurassic World 3, but the folks at Universal Pictures are already working on bringing the cast and crew together.

Perhaps one of the biggest casting updates for the next film in the longstanding live-action dinosaur movie franchise is that director Colin Trevorrow has brought back 3 iconic characters from the Jurassic Park trilogy.

Of course, you might fondly remember Sam Neill as Dr. Alan Grant, Laura Dern as Dr. Ellie Sattler, and Jeff Goldblum as Dr. Ian Malcolm, all of whom have become icons in their own right in Steven Spielberg’s now-timeless dinosaur movies.

Of the three, Goldblum (Thor: Ragnarok) was the only one to have appeared in the Jurassic World movies so far, having made an appearance at the end of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.

The return of the trio of characters in the Jurassic World franchise comes at a very interesting point of time in the narrative, as the end of Fallen Kingdom saw the coexistence of humans and dinosaurs in what Ian Malcolm coined as the Neo-Jurassic era.

Recently, Trevorrow directed a spinoff short film in the Jurassic World franchise, Battle at Big Rock, which depicts a day in the life of a family in the Neo-Jurassic era.

This, of course, serves as a precursor to the upcoming Jurassic World 3, which is slated for theatrical release on June 11, 2021.
