Jupiter’s Legacy Cancelled As Netflix Overhauls Millarworld Franchise

Netflix has released the cast of Jupiter’s Legacy, thus bringing the show to an end after just one season. Fortunately for creator Mark Millar, his work and legacy will still live on as the streamer has ordered a live-action adaptation of Supercrooks to series.

Supercrooks is set within the same world as Jupiter’s Legacy and will follow its supervillains in the same way Jupiter’s Legacy followed its superheroes. Supercrooks is positioned as the next installment in an anthology series. In this series, a ragtag gang of supervillains, con artists, petty thieves, and leg-breakers band together for the heist of the century.

“I’m really proud of what the team achieved with Jupiter’s Legacy and the amazing work everyone did on that origin season,” Millar said. “I’ve been asked a lot about what we’re planning next with this world and the answer is to see what the supervillains are getting up to. I’ve always loved crime stories from Scorcese to Tarantino and supervillains are always the most fun part of any superhero story. To do something exclusively focused on the villains they fight just feels incredibly fresh as we explore what it’s like to be a bad guy in a world crawling with good guys who want to put you in jail.”

In the Supercrooks and Jupiter’s Legacy comics, characters tend to cross over. It is unclear if fans will still see Utopian and other heroes make an appearance since the live-action adaptation is still in its early stages. In addition to a live-action series, an anime series based on the villains is also coming to Netflix in the later part of the year.

Jupiter’s Legacy starred Josh Duhamel, Ben Daniels, Leslie Bibb, Elena Kampouris, Andrew Horton, Mike Wade, and Matt Lanter. The show received poor reviews from critics but was loved by fans who gave the show a 72% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
