Iconic Japanese Manga Publisher Moves Into Games Publishing As Shueisha Games

If you are a fan of manga and the like, then you would know of Japanese publisher Shueisha. Home to the likes of Dragon Ball, Demon Slayer, One Piece, and more, it is a publisher that has plenty of excellent IPs that can have all sorts of utility. Now, the company has officially announced its new game publishing brand, Shueisha Games, and this could be a major gamechanger.

Shueisha Games

Following the game development initiatives undertaken by the Shueisha Game Creators CAMP, Shueisha Games will now offer even more support to game developers, with collaborations between developers and creators of manga, novelists, screenwriters, illustrators, and composers a key selling point.

This will help Shueisha Games to nurture even more talent that can then be leveraged on the gaming front. The hope is that games with new ideas can be created and reach the global market.

4000 developers have registered with the Game Creator CAMP, with the number of supported games now past 10, including certain ones still under wraps. The first four titles that will be released under the brand will be Oni by Kenei Design, Ukiyo by Seaknot Studios, The Tower of Children by Tasto Alpha, and Captain Velvet Meteor: The Jump+ Dimensions by Momo-pi Studio.

While these will likely not create the biggest waves, Shueisha Games has also stated that larger-scale games are being worked on as well, so these will be the big hitters to look out for. An example shared was a mobile game that will feature the designs of a mangaka that has worked on the iconic Weekly Shounen Jump.

Another is that of a competitive multiplayer game co-published with a major Japanese publisher and developed by a Japanese developer.

It may be still early days for Shueisha Games, but we are definitely keeping a close eye on what comes next.
