Huawei Sets 10 Sept Launch Of Triple Folding Smartphone

Hot off the heels of Apple’s iPhone 16 unveiling, Huawei is making waves with an announcement of their own, finally revealing the launch date of 10 September for their first tri-folding phone.

While the official post on Huawei’s Weibo account remains intentionally vague, the poster’s background image bears an uncanny resemblance to a device with a Z-fold design, and with CEO Richard Yu’s confirmation of the new phone’s launch this month, it’s hard not to put two and two together.

Although Huawei has remained reticent about the specifics of their upcoming device, numerous leaks have emerged that shed some insight on what to expect. Apart from its Z-fold design, the device would apparently feature a large 10-inch display when unfolded. Recent images of Yu using the device in public also gives a glimpse of the device’s remarkably slim form factor while folded.

Huawei is not the only one gunning for the apparent tri-fold trend, as TECNO has also recently unveiled their Phantom 2 Ultimate tri-fold phone concept, which boasts the same 10-inch unfolded display while claiming to have the same thickness levels when folded as current bi-folding phones.
