Hello Kitty And Sanrio Express Support For Black Lives Matter Movement

In wake of the recent Black Lives Matter movement, the official Sanrio Twitter account, as well as Hello Kitty’s Twitter have recently taken a stand against racism.

Sanrio stated that they stand for “friendship, kindness and inclusivity,” and the company was built as a “foundation of social communication for people to express their heartfelt feelings of respect and love for one another.” A notion firmly echoed by those for the Black Lives Matter movement.

In true Sanrio fashion, the company has also tweeted an adorable image to give fans tips on how they can be a better friend and ally.

Hello Kitty took it one step further by signal boosting Black artists for her followers to check out on her Twitter.

Aside from Hello Kitty and Sanrio, a number of other companies have also voiced their support for the movement.

Itch.io is holding a US$5 million fundraising campaign in support of racial equality, various video game events have been postponed in consideration for the movement, while major networks such as Netflix and Hulu have used their platforms, which are all followed by hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of people, to show their support for the #BlackLivesMatter hashtag movement.
