Happy Death Day Writer Christopher Landon Returns To Pen Script For Paranormal Activity 7

A seventh Paranormal Activity movie is in the works and Happy Death Day’s director Christopher Landon has been brought back on once again to pen the script for the movie. Landon had previously written the script for Paranormal Activity 2 till 5, and had even directed the fifth movie in the franchise.

This news came via Blumhouse’s big boss Jason Blum, who revealed it during an interview with The Evolution of Horror.

“We are doing a new Paranormal Activity. We have Chris Landon, who wrote almost all of them, he directed one of them, he’s really kind of the showrunner of the Paranormal Activity series, and he’s coming up with Paranormal Activity 7. Which is not the title of the movie, but it is the seventh Paranormal Activity.”

Aside from the Paranormal Activity films, Landon had also directed Happy Death Day and its sequel Happy Death Day 2U. With his proven track record with horror films, it is little wonder that Blumhouse is bringing him back to work on the new Paranormal Activity movie.

Though the first entry in the Paranormal Activity franchise started out strong, earning US$200 million in the box office on a US$15K budget, the quality of each subsequent film seemed to decrease as the years go by, with the latest entry, 2015’s Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension scoring a mere 14% on Rotten Tomatoes

It remains to be seen if Paranormal Activity will return to its former glory with Landon back on as scriptwriter. The film is slated to hit theatres on 21 March 2021.
