‘Haikyuu!!’ Final Film Unveils Thrilling Second Trailer & Theme Song At Jump Festa 2024

Jump Festa 2024 has officially begun, and one of the highlights was the Haikyuu!! Red Stage, where the anime’s voice actors unveiled a new promotional video for the upcoming Haikyuu!! Final movie.

This much-awaited film, titled Gekijōban Haikyu!! Gomi Suteba no Kessen (Haikyuu!! the Movie: The Battle at the Garbage Dump), is scheduled for release in Japan on 16 February 2024. The new promotional video also gave fans a taste of the movie’s theme song Orange, performed by SPYAIR.

Haikyuu!! the Movie: The Battle at the Garbage Dump is a sequel to the television anime Haikyuu!! TO THE TOP, which concluded in December 2020. It continues the story after Karasuno High’s victory over Inarizaki High, setting up a decisive match against Nekoma High.

In addition to the film’s excitement, theatregoers in Japan will receive a Special Volume 33.5 book, limited to 2 million copies. This book includes a new 16-page manga by creator Haruichi Furudate, character illustrations, a storyboard for chapter 322, and a Q&A with Furudate. The Red Stage also revealed new artwork by Furudate, which will serve as the cover illustration for this special volume.

Moreover, the voice cast revealed a new Haikyuu!! magazine, featuring updated looks for protagonists Hinata Shoyo and Kageyama Tobio as they would appear in 2024. The magazine will contain interviews and a spinoff manga. Another highlight was the announcement of details surrounding Gekidan Haikyuu!! (Stage production) along with a new illustration by Furudate.

Directed and scripted by Susumu Mitsunaka, known for his work on the first and third Haikyuu!! television anime, the film will also be screened in IMAX. This announcement follows the August 2022 revelation of two films in the series, with the first film focusing on the fated showdown between Karasuno High and Nekoma High.

The original Haikyu!! manga, launched in 2011 and concluded in July 2020, has inspired various adaptations, including a series of anime, stage plays, a clay-animated short, and compilation anime films, adding to the expansive world of Haikyuu!!.
