‘Gundam: Requiem for Vengeance’ Suits Up For War Fall 2024

The Gundam are back, and more unstoppable than ever before. Gundam: Requiem for Vengeance, the first in the franchise to use Unreal Engine 5, has debuted a full-length trailer showing air-dropped Zakus, a terrifying war machine Gundam, and plenty of destruction. A character says, “This is war, doc. It’s us or them,” with the Japanese trailer dropping a Fall 2024 release window.

Set on the European Front during the One Year War made famous by Mobile Suit Gundam, the story follows one Iria Sorari, and will include Zeon mobile suit Zaku II as well as the Federation mobile suit Gundam. It comprises six 30-minute episodes, and is produced in collaboration with SAFEHOUSE.

Gavin Hignight (Tekken: Bloodline, Marvel’s Spider-Man) is writing, with Naohiro Ogata (Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury, Mobile Suit Gundam Thunderbolt) serving as producer. Erasmus Brondau, who has worked on the animated series Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness and the Crysis video games, will direct the CG-animated series.

While the Unreal Engine 5 polish is a good look on the mecha, the execution seems to be fall short when it comes to character face-mapping. Not much else is known about the show, including the main voice cast and plot specifics, but Australian actress Celia Massingham (DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, Ladies in Black) will voice the lead character and perform the motion-capture for animation.

Gundam: Requiem for Vengeance hits Netflix this fall.
