‘Gundam: Requiem for Vengeance’ CGI Animated Series Reveals Netflix Debut In Teaser

Fasten your seatbelts, Mobile Suit Gundam fans! The series may have ended more than 40 years ago, but the excitement continues to live on. Gundam: Requiem for Vengeance, first announced at Anime Expo in July this year, will bring the adventures of the Universal Century chronology to Netflix exclusively.

The streamer and Bandai Namco Filmworks have jointly revealed a second new trailer for the upcoming animated series, offering an extended look at what’s to come. Focusing on the European Front during the One Year War made famous by Mobile Suit Gundam, the story follows one Iria Sorari, and will include Zeon mobile suit Zaku II as well as the Federation mobile suit Gundam.

German artist Erasmus Brosdau is directing the project, which comprises six 30-minutes episodes. Australian actress Celia Massingham (DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, Ladies in Black) voices the lead character and performs the motion-capture for animation.

Sunrise and Safe House are producing the animation entirely with Epic Games’ Unreal Engine 5. Gavin Hignight (Tekken: Bloodline, Marvel’s Spider-Man) is writing, with Naohiro Ogata (Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from MercuryMobile Suit Gundam Thunderbolt) serving as producer. Kimitoshi Yamane (Mobile Suit Gundam: Reconguista in G, Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin co-mechanical designer) will handle mechanical design, while Wilbert Roget II (Mortal Kombat 11Call of Duty: WWII) is credited as music composer.

Gundam: Requiem for Vengeance is “coming soon”, with no release date set just yet.
