Jeanne TanFree Comic Day is back on May 5, 2018, so get ready for some comic book goodness! In addition, there’s a bunch of giveaways and activities in store this year, so be sure to check it out especially if you are a comic lover!
Kinokuniya is celebrating the day at its Main Store in Orchard, so you might want to check that out!
Kinokuniya Privilege Card members get to pick from a selection of Free Comic Book Day comics from 10 am onwards when you present your card, as for non-card holders, don’t you worry, there is still plenty to be excited about.
Participate in the sure-win lucky dip with a minimum spend of SG$150.00, or get a free Deadpool 2 wristband if you buy any comic book in English. For just $20 or $50, get a graphic novel, collectible, figurine, stationery, DVD, or Blu-ray worth far above the price you’re paying with the cash-and-carry Lucky Bags. It’s only while stocks last, so you should definitely head to the Main Store at Takashimaya to stand a chance to grab something great!
Besides these, there are also a couple of events running on the day that you might be interested to check out.
At 2 pm, members of the local comics industry will gather at the Main Store for a panel celebrating the works of the late Morgan Chia, a Singaporean political cartoonist responsible for works like My Singapore, Tiananmen, Madam Kwa: The Life Of Mrs Lee Kuan Yew and L.K.Y: Political Cartoons.
At 4pm, meet the artists and writers of Comics of Singapore Histories (COSH) as they discuss the ideas behind works like Coalition of the Savoury Spare Parts by Oh Yong Hwee & Koh Hong Teng, Guidebook to Nanyang Diplomacy by Lim Cheng Tju & Benjamin Chee, Final Resting Place by James Tan, We’ll Eat When We’re Done by Dave Chua & Max Loh, Unstable Foundations by Joelyn Alexandra & Elvin Ching, Kungfu Dough by Don Low and Terumbu by Cheah Sinann. You can also get a peek behind the scenes in the drawing demonstration segment!
Besides these, there will also be FCBD 2018 T-shirts and merchandise available.
Besides Kino, GnB Comics are also celebrating the day, but in REAL Free Comic Book style: get down there and grab your free comic books! Besides this, you can also grab a cool Deadpool poster printed in the US. This is limited to the first 100 only, so hurry down! You can also grab a free Star Wars Rey circle button while stocks last!
There’s also a giveaway for tickets to the premiere of I Kill Giants – just snap a selfie with the Kill Giants standee at GnB and tag it #ikillgiants, #gnbcomics and #shaw on Facebook. The tickets will go to the top 20 entrees.
